Note the RAM floor: Mac minimum already asks for 16 GB, higher than Windows minimum. Older Intel Macs are outside the listed Apple Silicon path—verify compatibility on Steam before organizing a Mac-hosted lobby.

Consoles do not publish PC-style specs

PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2 run their own certified builds. You need enough free storage, current system software, and the correct online membership—see Online Requirements and PS Plus & Price. Performance targets are handled by the console SKUs rather than GPU shopping lists.

Why hosting needs headroom

Big Walk sessions support 2–12 online players with proximity voice, physics interactions, and tool gadgets. The host’s machine simulates the shared world. Underpowered hosts produce rubber-banding during puzzle holds, delayed voice positioning, or disconnects that end the session for everyone because host saves own progression—see Host Saves.

Practical host rules:

  1. Prefer recommended Windows specs (or M3-class Mac) when planning 6–12 players.
  2. Use wired Ethernet when possible; Wi-Fi works, but packet loss hurts co-op more than single-player RPGs.
